Circle Lens Review

I ordered a couple sets of lenses from www.candylens.com on November 16th, and they came yesterday! Hurray!

The Company

Candy Lens had great reviews, so I decided to go with them for my first circle lens order. They're based in Malaysia, but the shipping was quick (just 4 business days to get to Canada) and was a reasonable price ($15.90).

Other bloggers mentioned getting very personal and gift-wrapped packages from Candy Lens, but I got no such thing - just a plain old fed ex box with a brown envelope inside. The envelope did have my first name on the inner flap, though, so maybe I shouldn't complain.

Each set of lenses came with a contact lens case, which are very cute. I was also given the choice at checkout to state a preference of animal shape and colour for my cases - hippo, puffer fish, bear, or pig. I requested a hippo and puffer fish, and got my wish! They're very cute and not bad quality.

The Lenses

The first set of lenses I purchased were the Geo Ultra CK-105 in black. These are the larger of two otherwise identical sets of black lenses Geo makes. The smaller are 14 mm while these are 14.8 mm in diameter. They have a water content of 38%. I paid $19.90 USD for them, which was the best price I could find on the web.

First of all these things are BIG. Very big and very black. Before I put my make-up on, I looked pretty demonic. However, with some eyeliner and mascara, my eyes started to look a little more cute and a little less scary. They give a very visible doll-eyed look, and make the whites of your eyes appear whiter.

The CK-105's were easy to get in, despite their size. I was a first time contact user and had no issues with them. They don't feel too big on my eyes, and don't move much when I look around. I have large eyes though, so this may be a problem for those with smaller eyeballs. These lenses are very comfortable, and don't dry my eyes at all. I can easily wear them upwards of 8 hours at a time. I wear glasses, so I purchased these with a prescription. The prescription is very clear, which is to be expected of Geo.

The Verdict

Natural Look: 2/5 These lenses look terrifying without makeup, but with lashes and eyeliner they blend in much better. On lighter eyes or on someone with lighter features, these would look even more obvious.

Comfort: 4/5 They barely move and are very moist. However, like all contacts, you start to feel them after a few hours, and your eyes may be a little tired by the night.

Colour Change: 5/5 These are very opaque, which isn't surprising of a black coloured contact.

Over-All: 3/5 Probably not for every day use (at least not for me) as they are so obviously fake, and look quite scary without makeup. With lashes on top however, they look quite cute. Very comfortable and great quality.
